Suhrid Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-10-02 Version: 1.11

This is an English convenience translation. The German version (AGB) is authoritative.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Suhrid.de, Florian Berninger, Lehmkuhlen 4a, 25337 Elmshorn, Germany ("we", "us"), governing your use of the Suhrid app.

1. What Suhrid is

Suhrid helps you meet people in person. You can:

  • post a broadcast: an activity you want to do, a venue name/address, a 2-hour time window and, optionally, a short note (at most 20 characters);
  • see broadcasts from nearby users that match your gender and age-range preferences;
  • add a profile photo (exactly one; Section 4.3) — required to express interest;
  • express interest in someone's broadcast;
  • form a match when a broadcast owner accepts an interest, which opens an end-to-end encrypted chat.

Anyone aged 18 or over who lives or stays in the EU or EEA can register (Regulation (EU) 2018/302). Broadcasts and venues are currently available in Germany only.

Suhrid is a platform for users to arrange their own meetings. We do not organise, supervise, vet, or attend any meeting between users.

1a. Example broadcasts during the test phase

While Suhrid is in its test phase, the feed may contain example broadcasts that do not come from real users but are generated by us, so that the feed shows something in regions that still have few users. Such broadcasts are visibly labelled "Beispiel" (example) on the card; no other broadcast carries that label.

No match and no contact can arise from an example broadcast. If you express interest in one, the broadcast is withdrawn and you receive an explanatory message in your in-app inbox instead. The profiles behind them cannot sign in and cannot chat.

We may switch example broadcasts off at any time; they end with the test phase at the latest.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old. You confirm this at registration by providing your date of birth and ticking an explicit confirmation checkbox. Providing a false date of birth is a violation of these Terms and leads to account termination.

  • You may only create an account for yourself, with accurate information, and you may not use tools that fake your device location (mock-location / fake-GPS apps).

  • When you register, you accept these Terms and confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy. We store which version you accepted and when.

3. Your account

  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • Important — encryption, your password and your e-mail mailbox: your chat messages are end-to-end encrypted; the keys are derived from your password on your device. So that your chats survive a forgotten password, we keep a sealed copy of your master key that only a separately secured recovery service opens after you confirm a code sent to your e-mail address (Privacy Policy, Section 7). Anyone with access to your e-mail mailbox can take over your account and your chats this way — secure your mailbox accordingly. If you lose access to your e-mail address, we cannot recover encrypted content for you.
  • One account per person. Do not sell, lend, or transfer your account.

4. User conduct

You agree to:

  • treat other users respectfully; no harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination;
  • post only truthful information about yourself;
  • not impersonate others;
  • not use the service for commercial solicitation, advertising, or spam;
  • not post unlawful content, and not use the service for any unlawful purpose;
  • not attempt to circumvent the service's technical protections or matching restrictions;
  • not scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data about other users.

4.1 No contact information — an enforced rule

To protect users from spam, scams and off-platform pressure, sharing contact information is not allowed anywhere in the app — not in chat messages, not in your profile, and not in broadcasts. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, links/URLs, and social-media handles. The app automatically blocks content that contains contact information or links; attempting to evade this filter (e.g. by obfuscating a phone number) is itself a violation of these Terms. Whether and when you exchange contact details when you meet in person is entirely up to you.

4.2 Broadcast content

Broadcasts — including the optional short note (free text, at most 20 characters) — are visible to other users. In addition, the following applies to them:

  • no abusive, obscene, sexual or pornographic, violence-glorifying, racist, sexist or otherwise discriminatory terms or content, not even as an allusion, and no content unsuitable for persons under 18;
  • no personal data of other people (names, addresses or similar) and no contact information (Section 4.1);
  • no advertising and no offers of a sexual or commercial nature.

When you post, the service automatically checks the short note against a list of prohibited terms and does not accept broadcasts with a hit. The filter is a technical aid and does not replace these rules: content it does not detect (paraphrases, spelling variants, disguised spellings) still violates these Terms, and attempting to evade the filter is itself a violation. Other users can report broadcasts. We may remove such broadcasts and, for repeated or serious violations, suspend your account (Section 7).

4.3 Profile photo

Every account can have exactly one profile photo. Without a profile photo that is visible to others you cannot express interest in a broadcast; you can post broadcasts without one. The following applies to the profile photo:

  • It must be a recent, real colour photograph of you in which your face is clearly recognisable — no pictures of other people, no group pictures, no drawings, paintings, cartoons, screenshots, statues, stock images, avatars, AI-generated or edited pictures that do not depict you. The app checks on your device that exactly one face is visible and that it is a photograph of a real face, and rejects other pictures; this technical check does not replace the rule.
  • No nudity, no sexual or offensive depictions, no violence, no children, and no content unsuitable for persons under 18.
  • No contact information, links, social-media handles, advertising or other text in the picture (Section 4.1).
  • You must hold the rights to the picture. No one other than yourself may be depicted.

The profile photo is visible to signed-in users the app shows your profile to (on your profile, in requests and in chats — not in the broadcast feed). With Suhrid Plus you can hide it (Section 8); a hidden photo does not count as present for expressing interest. Other users can report profiles; we review reported profile photos and may remove them and, for violations, suspend your account (Section 7). You can replace or remove your photo at any time (Settings → Account & profile → Edit profile); the previous photo is deleted when you do.

4.4 Moderation, reports and complaints

To enforce these rules we use the following means:

  • Automated filters: the app blocks contact information and links (Section 4.1), checks broadcast short notes against a list of prohibited terms (Section 4.2) and checks on your device that a profile photo shows exactly one real face (Section 4.3). Our server also detects spam patterns (e.g. contact details in a username, profile text or venue, or very many broadcasts, interests or messages in a short time) and then automatically suspends the account concerned provisionally.
  • Reports in the app: users can report profiles, chats and broadcasts. Each report is weighted by its reason ("underage" highest); only reports from the last 30 days by active accounts count (after a suspension has been lifted, only those received since), and each person can report an account only once. When the total reaches a set threshold, the account is suspended automatically and provisionally. A broadcast reported by several users is automatically taken out of the feed.
  • Reports without an account: anyone — including people without a Suhrid account — can report illegal content by email to support [at] suhrid [punkt] de. Please state as precisely as possible which content is concerned (e.g. username, broadcast, time), why it is illegal, and your name and email address. We confirm receipt and tell you our decision. Reports of child sexual abuse are handled with priority under our Child Safety Standards.
  • Human review: our moderation team reviews reported profiles, profile photos and broadcasts. Automatic account suspensions are provisional: a human reviews every automatically imposed suspension within 7 days and confirms or lifts it; we tell you the outcome. We cannot see chat content (Section 6).
  • Statement of reasons: if we suspend your account, remove or change content of yours or hide a broadcast, we tell you the reasons by email to your account address — which measure we took and for how long, which rule is concerned, which facts we rely on, whether reports from other users were involved (we never name who reported) and whether the decision was taken automatically (Art. 17 DSA). Every decision has a decision ID. For an account suspension the app also shows you the reasons; measures concerning your content additionally appear in your in-app inbox.
  • Complaints: you can complain about any such decision free of charge within six months of being notified, by replying to the email with the statement of reasons or by writing to support [at] suhrid [punkt] de, quoting the decision ID. A human reviews the complaint and we tell you the outcome by email; if the decision was wrong, we reverse it. Deleted content (for example a profile photo or a deleted broadcast) cannot be restored. You can have an automatic suspension reviewed by a human at any time (Privacy Policy, Section 11). Your right to go to court is unaffected.

5. Meeting people — safety

You decide whom to meet, where, and when. Use common sense: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and trust your instincts. We do not run background checks on users and make no representations about any user's identity, intentions, or conduct. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline.

6. Content

  • You keep all rights to the content you post (profile text, profile photo, broadcasts, messages). You grant us the technical licence needed to store, process in reduced form (thumbnail), transmit, and display that content to the users the app is designed to show it to — and for nothing else.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.
  • Chat messages are end-to-end encrypted; we do not read or moderate their content. Automated contact-info blocking is applied by the app itself. Profile text, profile photo and broadcasts are not encrypted; we review reported profile photos and broadcasts.

7. Termination

  • By you: you can delete your account at any time (Settings → "Delete account"). This permanently and immediately deletes your profile, profile photo, broadcasts, matches, and messages; Section 4 of the Privacy Policy lists the few records that remain for a limited time.
  • By us: we may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms (in particular Sections 2 and 4), if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where reasonable, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to respond; in serious cases (e.g. safety risks, underage use, fraud) we may terminate immediately. Section 4.4 applies to reasons and complaints.
  • Termination does not affect rights and obligations that by their nature survive it (e.g. liability arising from your prior conduct).

7a. Right of withdrawal for the free account

When you register, you conclude a contract with us for the free use of Suhrid. As a consumer you have a statutory right of withdrawal from it.

Withdrawal notice

Right of withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded, that is, from the day you registered your Suhrid account.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Suhrid.de, Florian Berninger, Lehmkuhlen 4a, 25337 Elmshorn, Germany, phone: +49 431 2643376, e-mail: support [at] suhrid [punkt] de) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an e-mail). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. We also treat it as a withdrawal if you delete your account within the period in the app via "Delete account" in the settings.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we delete your account in the same way as on account deletion (section 7); the few records kept for a limited time are listed in section 4 of the privacy policy. The free account costs nothing: we have no payments to refund, and the withdrawal costs you nothing.

For a Plus subscription, section 8 applies: the store you subscribed through provides the withdrawal notice and handles any withdrawal.

Model withdrawal form

(Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)

  • To Suhrid.de, Florian Berninger, Lehmkuhlen 4a, 25337 Elmshorn, Germany, e-mail: support [at] suhrid [punkt] de
  • I hereby withdraw from the contract concluded by me for the use of the Suhrid app (free account).

  • Name: ____________
  • Username in the app: ____________

8. Suhrid Plus (optional paid subscription)

The basic Suhrid service is free of charge. Optionally you can subscribe to Suhrid Plus, which raises usage limits and unlocks extra features (currently: up to 5 active broadcasts at once instead of 1, a search radius of up to 50 km instead of 10 km, broadcasts scheduled up to 24 hours in advance, and hiding your profile photo from others — Section 4.3). The exact scope and price are shown in the app before you subscribe.

  • Purchase and billing: the subscription is bought through Google Play on Android and through the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and billed by that store under its own terms (Google Play Terms of Service / Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions). In the European Economic Area the merchant of record is Google (Google Commerce Limited, Ireland) for Google Play purchases and Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland) for App Store purchases: your payment contract is with that store, we provide the Plus service. The price displayed in the store's purchase dialog before you confirm is the total price including VAT.
  • Term and cancellation: the subscription renews monthly until cancelled. You cancel a Google Play subscription in the Google Play app (Payments & subscriptions), and an App Store subscription in Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions (or in the App Store app, under your account picture → Subscriptions). Plus then remains active until the end of the already-paid period. As a consumer you have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from concluding the subscription. The store that sold you the subscription, as merchant of record, provides the withdrawal information and handles withdrawals including any refunds — Google in the Google Play purchase flow (Google Play Terms of Service, "Right of withdrawal"), Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions through its request flow at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • After expiry: when Plus ends, the free limits apply again. Nothing is deleted.
  • If we suspend or terminate your account (Section 7): for a Google Play subscription we stop the renewal so that no further payments are taken — for an automatic, provisional suspension, once a human has confirmed it. For an App Store subscription we cannot do that: Apple gives us no way to cancel or refund a subscription you bought from Apple. We end the Plus service together with your account, but the renewal keeps running until you cancel it yourself in Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions; we will point you to that step by email when we suspend or terminate the account. Whether and to what extent the already-paid period is refunded follows the statutory rules and is handled by the store — through Google Play, or through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Free Plus: we may grant Plus free of charge (e.g. the one-time 30-day reward for 5 successful invitations via your referral link, Privacy Policy Section 3.10, or support goodwill). Free grants are not purchases, renew nothing, and create no claim to further free periods.
  • Changes to the Plus feature set are governed by Section 8a.

8a. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Suhrid available and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation.

We change the service only for a valid reason (e.g. security, a change in the law, technical development, adapting to changed store or operating-system requirements) and at no additional cost to you. If a change impairs your access to the service or its usability more than insignificantly, we inform you clearly and in good time in the app about the change, when it takes effect and your right to terminate; you can then terminate the contract free of charge within 30 days of that information or of the change, whichever is later (§ 327r BGB) — for a running Plus subscription you then get back the pro-rata price for the period no longer used. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable advance notice in the app.

9. Liability

  • We are fully liable for damage caused by intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under mandatory statutory liability rules.
  • For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely), and then limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.
  • We are not liable for the conduct of other users, for the accuracy of information users provide, or for anything that happens at meetings arranged through the service.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
  • The above limitations also apply in favour of our legal representatives and vicarious agents.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We announce every new version in the app at least 30 days before its effective date, with a short summary of the changes and a link to the full text.

  • Changes that only concern new features or do not put you in a worse position apply from the effective date if you keep using Suhrid after it. We point this out expressly in the announcement.
  • Material changes to your rights and obligations require your express acceptance in the app. From the effective date you can use Suhrid again only once you have accepted. If you do not want to accept, you can delete your account at any time (Section 7).

We store which version you accepted, when and how. Changes will never retroactively reduce your rights regarding data you already provided.

11. Governing law and disputes

  • These Terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
  • If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of habitual residence remain unaffected.
  • Jurisdiction/venue: for consumers, the statutory rules apply.
  • We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

12. Miscellaneous

  • If a provision of these Terms is invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • The German-language version of these Terms (AGB) is authoritative; this English text is a convenience translation.
